Streamlining bank account creation: From weeks of paperwork to a 21-minute digital process
It takes 4 weeks to 18 week to get a corporate bank account in Nigeria and NGO bank accounts are not left out.
Tride is a financial solution that allows non-profit organizations open and manage a bank account with ease.
My task here was to design an onboarding experience that allows NGOs get a bank account as early as possible while reducing the stress of the paper works back and forth.

After speaking with 6 non-profit organization founders, the challenge became clear, this founders needed a bank account for their organizations in order to scale operations, most of them started out using personal bank accounts, but donors are beginning to question this.

As the product designer on this project, my first subtask was to understand the compliance requirement to open an NGO bank account in Nigeria, and to collaborate with other team members find a suitable partner to make this happen.

There are quite a number of infrastructure companies that can power bank accounts through APIs and make this easier from the comfort of their homes.

I created a long list of the all the requirements to open a bank account needed by the infrastructure partner and compliant with the CBN.

Two officers known as trustees is the minimum requirement for the number of officers needed so we fixed that instead of three

so we swung into action and reduced the number of officers required to minimum of 2

also we created two type of accounts, individual Organization and Organization accounts to accommodate organizations that are just starting out.

Our true test of success was a user that registered newly and completed all onboarding to get a bank account in just 21 mins as supposed to 8 weeks or 32 weeks
